DESIGN & DETAILS

Bespoke Design

Land on Cape Cod is a nuanced, tumbled reflection of the wind and ocean and the native flora that has sculpted it for centuries.

At Rockhill, we believe in working with the flow of the land, the sunrise and moonset, and embracing the ever-evolving view of Cape Cod Bay. Because of this, each home entertains a unique, one-of-a-kind kinship with the lot it sits on.

Designed specifically to take advantage of the New England sunlight, and the restless views of Cape Cod Bay, the homes of Rockhill honor the centuries of architectural tradition, reimagined in modern coastal luxury.

Award Winning Craftmanship

The homes of Rockhill Estates reflect a passion for the historical architecture of Cape Cod and the Islands, with each home being approved by the Sandwich Historic Commission. From colors, to woven shingle corners, to the coffered ceilings, each home is guided by a commitment to quality design, sound construction, and careful attention to to detail.

Design firm Arcadia has been honored with numerous national and local awards including the Urban Design Award from Progressive Architecture Magazine, the Architectural Design Award award from the Boston Society of Architects, and the Merit Award for Planning, Pittsburgh History & Landmarks Foundation, among many others.

History Reborn

The term “Cape Cod House” was used as early as 1800. It is believed that then Yale College president, Timothy Dwight, coined the term when visiting the Cape, but such lore is debatable. What is known is that the tough, stalwart angles of the Cape home was designed to weather the elements and became extremely popular. By 1740, such houses had been built throughout most of New England, and also on New York’s Long Island.

Today, the classic Cape home lives on, and with the dawn of the 1800s, soon sat alongside Gambrels, Garrisons, Salt Boxes, Federals, Colonials, and stunning Victorians and Greek Revivals.

Here, at Rockhill, our homes honor the past of 400+ years of architecture, bravery, and the ocean at our door.

Welcome to Sandwich
